Dustin Lewis and Brian Sorensen both conspired to defraud OneWest Bank. The pair allegedly planned and implemented a scheme whereby they could avoid foreclosure, and Lewis could retain ownership of his five-bedroom home in Henderson. As part of their scheme, Lewis submitted a false short sale application to OneWest Bank. This application asked bank to permit Lewis’ sale of the property to one of Sorensen’s family members, for much less than Lewis owed on his mortgage loan.
Lewis is also accused of failing to disclose that he and Sorensen had agreed for Lewis to continue residing at the property, and that Sorensen would later sell the property back to Lewis, mortgage free. Further, Lewis is also accused of then putting the property up for sale, for $1,195,000.
