Here’s how greed and stupidity are co-joined at the hip.
Disney World Scammers Robbed Four Years of Free Vacations
From the big mouse to the big house. In May 2012, three Florida fraudsters were charged with a four-year-long Disney World scheme. Joseph Geiger, Robert Falk and Steven Nero were discovered to have swindled several thousands of dollars at Walt Disney World theme park in Orlando, Florida. Their sneaky scheme involved first reserving their rooms with a valid card. Then, upon arrival they swapped the credit card on file for a prepaid one with a balance of only a couple of dollars. With the prepaid card on file, they went on a spending spree billing everything to their rooms including their park entrances. They made sure to stay under the radar by not exceeding a certain limit. Still, the men indulged during their free vacations. During one trip, they cheated the park out of $15,000. They managed to maintain their shtick for four years in a row. But they were eventually found out by a cigar shop worker who took notice of their excessive cigarette purchases. According to authorities, the men bought “hundreds of dollars’ worth of cigarettes at a time.” Once security notified the police, the men were arrested putting an end to their scam.
